Meet the Ambassador: Benedetta from @tender_is_the_read

For the first time ever, The Quirky Cup Collective has recruited a mini club of Ambassadors who are here to experience and share the love for our creations. All of them are wonderful in their own right and we thought we'd give them the chance to introduce themselves and participate in a fun quiz so you can get to know them a little better!

Please give a warm welcome to Benedetta 💕

Hello and welcome! Please introduce yourself to the Quirky community.

Hi everyone! My name is Benedetta and I have a bookstagram account called @tender_is_the_read! I am from Italy, but currently based in Dublin, Ireland for my studies. I've moved here only last year, after spending the past decade between the US, Scotland and England, and I have to say, I have really developed a taste for crisp, chilly mornings and long autumns and winters! After yeeeears of not touching a single book for fun, I was inspired by fellow bookstagram girlies to embrace the bookworm child within me and I've not looked back since. Only problem: moving has become a lot harder with 200+ books in tow! My favourite genres are classics and literary fiction.

We need to know! What's your ideal reading setup?!

I have always loved reading in bed the most! I love being surrounded by super soft duvets and blankets and pillows... heaven!

We know you love reading, but what hobbies do you have outside of inhaling books?!

I also love watching movies! I have similar movie watching goals as I have reading goals. Apart from taking photos of books (which I also love!), I'm not a very creating/gifted person, so I stick to consuming media nearly to the point of obsession.

Favourite book or series of all time? Yes, just one. Sorry not sorry.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald!

This might be a hard one BUT what is your most controversial book opinion!?

Oh I have an entire Youtube video on this on my channel, I always say I don't really like sad books, and I have some real beef with Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy for that reason.

What book character do you resonate with and why?

Probably complicated characters full of contradictions like Esther Greenwood from The Bell Jar, or Jane Eyre.

Spill the tea: What is your favourite Quirky Cup item and why?!

I am obsessed with all the book sleeves!! I own the wisteria literati book sleeve and on top of having a gorgeous design, it feels super lux with the combination of thick velvet AND the satin inside. I love how it keeps my books safe, protected and frankly quite spoiled.

Reading is a sacred pastime. What are your MUST have reading accessories?

I will be basic and say bookmarks! As much as I will resort to dog earing if it's an emergency, bookmarks make the whole experience so much more fun and visually pleasing! I love matching them to my current read too.

This or that 🔥

  • Kindle or Physical Book

  • Big books or quick reads?

  • Annotating or pristine books? (This one was HARD)

  • Tea or Coffee? None

  • Slow-burn or insta-love?

  • Bookmark or whatever paper thing is on hand?

  • Dog earing: Prison time or perfectly acceptable

  • Friend to lovers or enemies to lovers?

And lastly, you were asked to be an ambassador for The Reading Journal & matching accessories; how are you finding them so far!? Be honest.

They are amazing, I'm obsessed! The reading journal is so much fun and the matching accessories are gorgeous. Possibly too distracting to use, I just end up staring at all the wonderful details. Thank you so much once again!! All the best, Benedetta

Do you and Benedetta read similar books and like the same things!? If yes, you can find and keep up with them via their socials below! Be sure to pop them a hello if you do 💕
