The pen design is even more beautiful in person, and I love the feel of it in my hands while writing. Unfortunately, it seems I received a slightly defective pen cartridge inside. After writing a few words, the pen is prone to 'ink skipping'. I followed the troubleshooting advice for the Quirky pens, but even after leaving my cartridge in hot water for 15 minutes, it would still write inconsistently. The pen works best on typical printer-style paper, but ink skipping would happen regardless. So, I replaced the cartridge with one of the Quirky refills, but the same 'ink skipping' persisted even after troubleshooting.
Writing with the pen completely upright yielded the best results overall, but for an expensive product, I expect better quality (I suspect manufacturing issues with newer batches, as older reviewers aren't having issues with ink skipping). While the pen is fine for writing short sentences, I don't recommend it for fast note-taking or journalling. Someone else mentioned Muji pen refills being able to fit inside the Quirky pens, so I plan on using that instead.
The design is gorgeous and high quality. There’s a weight to the pen that fits the hand perfectly and the ink flow! Chefs kiss!!! As a confessed stationary addict these will now be my go to! Just need one in every design now ha

I don't usually buy pens online...as a lefty, I do struggle a little to find the 'right' pen that isn't going to leave ink all over my fingers, or that just feels like I'm pushing sh1t uphill (because as lefty's we basically write against the grain, as opposed to righty's who have a nice flow away from the page)...but this pen feels really lovely. Having said that, I am pretty sure my 5 year old granddaughter has coveted it for herself. LOL

Unfortunately, while I was writing, the pen suddenly broke (the ring that's holding the pen together has broken off so the ink is actually springing out and exposed). I have tried using a glue gun to hold it together but it's not working so the pen is not usable anymore and I'm disappointed. Other than that, it would have been 5 stars.

Got a second pen from QuirkyCup, because the one I already have is my absolute favorite! The refills/inserts they come with are great, but for a pop of color the refills for Muji gel pens also fit, so it's very easy to customize the ink color if that's what you're into. Would def buy a lifetime supply of QuirkyCup refills if they ever came in purple though :)
